from rock(s) to jazzz
yesterday and today i travelled from imst to innsbruck and then onto saalfelden (at the stony sea).
i met up with an old friend from school in innsbruck. not that old, the same age as i am, but we got to know each other on the first day of grammar school some time ago. we know each other really well, but still there are new stories to share from our childhoods and youth. and of course stories from more recently.
though a little tired from the first day on the bike the evening lasted fairly long and the night ended being rather short.
this morning i made another cemetary visit - more on that eventually. today i just leave you with some photos.
continuing on from there i came across the nicest stone shop i have ever seen in my life. i now have more stones in my backpack. good success with your business young man!
in fiecht i passed by a monastery that i remember from my childhood.
riding further east the rain caught up with me, and the past. a lot to think about. at the same time, as stated before, i am trying to think less and feel more. to just be. a bit like a jazz musician when they are improvising without forcing anything, just letting it flow.
so i boarded a train for the rest of the way for an early and somewhat dry arrival in saalfelden.
since 1995, whenever i can i travel to saalfelden to meet long-time friends for the annual jazz festival. early on, we found the event a little stiff. there was so much sitting, and audience members would shush us whenever we dared to show too much enthusiasm: standing up, dancing, clapping too loudly, letting out spontaneous cries of delight.
once we had t-shirts printed with the words jazz police, a tongue-in-cheek tribute to those who seemed determined to police everyone else's enjoyment.
as iām waiting for the others to arrive i have time to download the photos and write this blurp. over the next days i hope to write about jazz a bit. we will see what inspires me. over & out.
