sfjazz26 day 2

the official festival opening brought a comissioned set by yvonne moriel, together with a set of musicians that first met on monday this week.

two drummers, piano, bass, harp and yvonne on saxophone. interesting sounds, feedbacks from the bass guitar, sax like a foghorn, metallic piano strings, tribal rhythms, nature sounds.

then a norwegian trio with flute and cello & drums for the rhythmic foundation. ‘tom morello for cello’ made the most interestings sounds on his instrument. let’s call it groove cello.

the gruber halle is a kind of industrial venue, where we heard the last two bands for this evening. out there, but cool.

goes without saying, but it’s got to be said: good night.
