endoscope maintenance & repair
collaborating with grvd – german rotary volunteer doctors, teog – technik ohne grenzen, and biomedical engineers from europe and various locations across ghana (kumasi, techiman, battor and nkawkaw), we set out to provide hands-on training in the cleaning, leakage testing and repair of endoscopes.
three and a half days packed with training, exchanging experiences and getting to know the participants, combined with visits to local attractions and markets, the occasional heavy downpour and, of course, some lovely ghanaian food. for some, it was even their first taste of banku with okra stew!
all in all, a great experience and a good starting point for building a network of biomedical engineers across ghana, encouraging continued exchange of knowledge and mutual support. future training sessions will build on what we've covered, adding the skills and expertise needed to tackle more complex endoscope repairs.
